Epsom Downs Racecourse

Located in the county of Surrey, England, Epsom Downs racecourse is famous for hosting tow of the five Englash Classic races, the Epsom Derby and of course this race, the Epsom Oaks. It also hosts the Coronation Cup.

The course is a difficult undulating one which can often catch out the inexperienced horses that normally contest the Oaks.It is a strong test of stamina for horses who are not proven to stay the mile and half trip.

The contours of the Epsom track require the Epsom Oaks Runners to be extremely adaptable; quick enough to take up and hold a good position in the usually hectic early stages, agile enough to go uphill and then down again, balanced enough to be able to handle the charge down to famous Tattenham Corner and ultimately blessed with both the stamina and the speed to keep galloping up the wide straight towards the winning post.

The facilities at Epsom have improved out of all proportion. A huge spend has been made on the re-development of the Grandstand and associated facilities, it is once again a prince among racecourses and the perfect host for the greatest Fillies race in England.
