2012 Epsom Oaks Form Guide

Epsom Derby Odds

The racing form of the Epsom Oaks runners is the single biggest assistance available to punters who fancy their chances of selecting the winner of the big race. However, as in all horse racing form is never the answer in itself as year in year out surprises and shocks occur, which usually plays into Bookies hands.

For instance in the 2008 Epsom Oaks Look Here romped home in great style at Epsom Oaks odds of 33-1, while in second place, came the Aiden O’Brien trained Moonstone, who was herself was a 25-1 shot. It was a nightmare outcome for the millions who went for the more favoured fillies but it became a great race for the bookies.

Blue Bunting

Frankie Dettori's mount had its Epsom Oaks Odds slashed following her impressive 1000 Guineas win. The filly is now the 2/1 hot favourite to win on June 3rd. In four starts Blue Bunting has won three races, including the recent 100 Guineas in May, the Montrose Fillies Stakes last October and the Royal British Legion last August. Blue Bunting has been well trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni and is currently undefeated in a mile race. No doubt her greatest performance came at Newmarket in the 1000 Guineas when at odds of 14/1 she finished strongly to clinch the win.

Wonder of Wonders

The Aidan O’Brien trained horse recently shot to stardom by winning the Cheshire Oaks. As a result the Wonder of Wonders moved up to second favourite in the betting in the 2011 Oaks Odds, with odds of 4/1 to win. The filly only recorded here maiden win a week before Cheshire in Tipperary. Supports believe the Wonder Of Wonders has the power and speed to make a real impact at the Epsom Oaks on June 3rd, but her owner and jockey know that it is a very competitive field with a number of strong horses.

Havant

Sir Michael Stoute is hoping that Havant will give him his first win in the Epsom Oaks since Unite in 1987. Havant, jockeyed by Ryan Moore, caught the eye after winning as a juvenile at Newmarket in August and October. However, after being heavily supported the filly suffered a slight set back at the 1,000 Guineas when she could only finish sixth, five lengths behind the winner Blue Bunting. She is expected to mount a sterner challenge this time round at the Oaks and can be found with Odds of around 5/1 with most bookmakers.

Zain Al Boldan

The Mick Channon trained horse has a 100% record with three wins from three starts. Zain Al Boldan grabbed the headlines in early May with a classy victory in the Langfield Oaks Trial to put its name in the running for the Epsom Oaks. The impressive six length win mean her odds were instantly slashed from 66/1 to 12/1, which have since been lowered further to 10/1.

Misty For Me

After finishing in a disappointing eleventh place in the 1,000 Guineas, Misty For Me defied the critics by storming back and winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas by three quarters of a length. Question marks will be raised over her stamina as she is yet to go further than a mile. However, Aidan O’Brien’s horse will still be a leading contender come Friday 3rd June and can currently be found with Oaks Odds of around 6/1.
