-09-08 - Weatherbys Insurance 300000 Stakes Odds Wootton Bassett looks Hard to Beat

Richard Fahey’s exciting two year old Wootton Bassett puts his three race unbeaten record on the line in the Weatherbys Insurance £300,000 Stakes at Doncaster on Thursday, the second day of the St Leger Festival. The odds of 13/8 from Paddy Power certainly suggest that the speedy DBS Premier Yearling winner is the one to beat in the race and if anything at all those odds will shorten considerably before the race, particularly as Fahey believes the colt to have improved since that York run.

-09-08 - DFS Park Hill Stakes Odds Meeznah one of several in with chances in Doncaster Group Two

Although attempting 1 mile and 6½ furlongs for the first time in this Group 2, Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster, Meeznah, trained by David Lanigan, will be dropping down in class to run after running with a great deal of credit at Group 1 level, in the Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks, where she finished second, fourth and fourth respectively. Her trainer is confident that the step up in trip will help and not hinder her and is confident of a big run. She is almost certain to go off favourite but can be backed currently at 7/2 with Bet365.

-09-07 - Doncaster St Leger Betting Warm Order Favourite Rewilding Hard to Beat

Great Voltigeur Stakes winner, Rewilding, trained for Godolphin by Mahmood Al Zarooni is a very warm order favourite in the betting for the final classic of the 2010 season, the St Leger, which will be raced at Doncaster this coming Saturday. Already as short as 6/4 with most Bookmakers, Rewilding can still be snapped up at 13/8 with Paddy Power.

-09-04 - Matron Stakes Odds Music Show should hit the high notes in Fillies Group One

Although it looks like only six will go to post for the Group One Matron Stakes at Leopardstown this afternoon, the race is still full of quality and should provide an excellent spectacle for racegoers and punters alike. Favourite with odds of 2/1 for the one mile race is the Mick Channon trained, Music Show, winner of the Group One, Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket in July, where she had Spacious two lengths behind, who opposes again here. The win was excellent compensation for Music Show, who had ran with no luck finishing 6th in the 1000 Guineas, behind Special Duty and then 3rd in the Irish 1000 Guineas behind Bethrah, who also opposes here. Music Show can be backed with Bet365.

-09-03 - Betfred Sprint Cup Odds Starspangledbanner is the One to Beat at Haydock

Starspangledbanner would appear to have several advantages over his rivals as he tries to land his third Group One Sprint this season in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock Park this Saturday. The main advantage being that he is returning to six furlongs the distance on which he won the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the July Sprint Cup at Newmarket. One advantage that he will not have, ironically will be the fact that he is favourite for the race which has not been kind to jollies down the years, with only three winning in the last fifteen years. Nonetheless Bookmakers are reporting widespread support for him and he has been backed into 6/4 with most although 7/4 is still available via VC Bet.

-08-31 - Irish Champion Stakes Odds Rip Van Winkle to Rule Twice Over Again

Aidan O’Brien looks likely to be entering a three strong Ballydoyle contingent to contest the Group One, Irish Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown this weekend. They will be led by antepost favourite, Rip Van Winkle, impressive winner last time out of the Group One, Juddmonte International Stakes at York last month, over an extended 10 furlongs. Rip Van Winkle is being well backed and is currently available with odds of 4/5 from Ladbrokes. O’Brien has won this race five times in the last ten years, but had to be content with second place last year when Fame And Glory could not catch, Sea The Stars.

-08-28 - Moyglare Stud Stakes Odds Memory Can See Off Strong Irish Field for Hannon

Richard Hannon will once again take one of his many stable stars over to the Curragh this weekend to take on the might of the Ballydoyle and other top Irish yards in the Group One, Moyglare Stud Stakes over 7 furlongs. The star turn this time is his unbeaten filly, Memory, who is the 10/11 odds on favourite with Paddy Power to win the race and who was last seen winning the Group Two, Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket in early July. By all accounts she has progressed even further since then which is why she has hardened as favourite for the 1000 Guineas next May.
